Temperature Crayons - NKG/ Thermite Crayons

Thermite Crayons for electrochemical protection are the products to weld the metal constructions. They are used as flammable materials together with a reusable melting mold. They are consumable materials to melt and burn metal in a mold. A Thermite Crayon is cylindrical from a copper thermite mixture. When being manufactured, a delayed burning cord and an ignited element are pressed inside the cylinder.

Operating Principle of Thermite Crayons

• Electrochemical Protection Thermite Crayon is placed inside a reusable graphite melting mold.
• The end of the burning cord should be taken out from the melting mold through its hole in the cover.
• A match is used to fire the cord.
• The cord burns slowly, and the thermomixture pressed crayon starts burning as well.
• This results in metal melting, which forms solid dead connection of the electrochemical protection cable with pipeline surface.

Guidelines to Use and to Store Thermite Crayons

• A Thermite Crayon should be kept in a dry place.
• It must not be kept and used near an open fire.
• In case of fire the Crayon is extinguished with soil or sand. No water is used to extinguish it.
